Clarity Editorial’s managing director and co-owner has more than 30 years of experience in writing, editing and managing high-quality editorial projects in the United States and South Africa. He leads our global budget communications work.
Palesa is Clarity Editorial’s co-owner. She has extensive experience in designing communications strategies. Her writing is published in major South African media. And she is the managing director of our sister company, Cover2Cover.
Jane (Janey) manages special projects and business development at Clarity. With a background in classic PR, Janey brings broad communications consulting and client service experience to her role at Clarity.
Lara is a senior editor with a relentless eye for detail. She also helps to ensure that our operations run smoothly. Lara joined us full-time after graduating from the University of Cape Town with an Honours degree in media theory and practice.
As the executive assistant, Chaney is the backbone of Clarity – she keeps the business running behind the scenes. She has dedicated her career to helping others by streamlining processes and maximising efficiency. Chaney is committed to excellence in all that she does.
Jennifer is an experienced writer, editor and publishing project manager. She has won numerous awards for her science writing. She heads our Climate Change Communications division. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, philosophy and psychology.
Cristal has more than 15 years of experience in design, from major magazines to corporate and public sector reports. Her clear, bold and elegant style ensures that your product is inviting and accessible.
Donald holds a PhD in English literature from the University of Cape Town. He has more than a decade of experience as a lecturer and tutor in Europe and South Africa.
An economist by training, Shaista worked at the South African Reserve Bank for four years, writing and reviewing economic policies and reports. She brings her keen analytical skills and financial knowledge to her research, writing and editing at Clarity.
Raykie is the custodian of correctness, the “final eye” on much of the work that passes through our doors. She holds an Honours degree in environmental management and a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from the University of Cape Town.
Natasha graduated from her internship to join us as an editorial assistant. She assists with copyediting, proofreading and office administration. She studied language practice at the Tshwane University of Technology.
Felicity is responsible for managing projects and business development. She has extensive experience in leading teams on complex publishing projects from concept to delivery. She has also collaborated on internal communications projects for companies in the financial services industry.
Nicky is an editor and project manager with additional experience in research and writing. She holds an Honours degree in publishing from the University of the Witwatersrand and has worked on diverse materials ranging from educational textbooks to self-published novels.
Juliette has over 18 years of graphic design experience in both the media and corporate sectors. Using her skills in listening and communicating, she finds solutions that match clients’ needs. Her skills range from designing reports, presentations, and brochures, to laying out books and catalogues.
Katleho is a layout sub-editor with a background in print journalism and business writing. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences from the University of the Free State, where she specialised in media studies and journalism.
Stef is a researcher, writer, editor, project manager and lecturer. She works in our Climate Change Communications division. Stef holds a Master’s degree in sustainable development and management from Stellenbosch University.
As a Clarity associate, Carlos is responsible for writing, editing and managing projects. Formerly the editor of the Sunday Times Lifestyle magazine, he is now the editorial cartoonist for the Mail & Guardian. He writes on politics, sport, culture and business.
Sharon has more than 30 years’ experience in writing, editing and managing newsrooms in leading South African publications, including the Sunday Times, the Financial Mail and Business Day. She has also managed projects for major organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme.
Siphiwe is a writer, editor and communications consultant. He was the founding editor of BL!NK Magazine – Africa’s first independent men’s magazine, and the Associate Editor of GQ South Africa for five years. In 2015, he founded men’s thought, culture and style platform, notedman.com.
Tessa has a strong reporting background in Afrikaans and English-language publications. She specialises in producing communications for the mining, information and communications technology, and legal industries.
Karen has more than 20 years’ experience as a technical editor. She specialises in plain English and is highly regarded for her interpretive skills. Karen also edits fiction. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Syracuse University.
Maya has provided high-quality writing, editing and proofing services for a wide range of print and online publications over the past decade. She has a BA in English literature and history and an Honours degree in historical studies from the University of Cape Town.
Vishanthi is an accomplished writer who manages to capture the human element while retaining a crucial level of detail. She has a strong interest in sustainability issues. She runs communications campaigns, with a strong focus on digital media, and has produced reports for a wide range of clients.
